Wolves can’t blow Brentford’s house down

24 Nov

I posed the question yesterday as to what would happen when the irresistible force meets the immovable object. The two in question being the Brentford front line (ten goals in the last two games) against the Scrooge like Wolves defence (ten goals against in the entire league one campaign, to date).

The answer is, as we are now all aware, a 0-0 draw. It wasn’t for want of trying, on either team’s behalf. If the BBC Football League Show is to be believed then Wolves deserved to edge it. On balance of play, perhaps the draw (which I am sure both managers would have settled for before kick off blah, blah, cliché, cliché) was probably the fairer result.

To read the rest of this article, season 2013/14 is now available to download onto Kindle, in full. Containing previously unseen content, you can do so here for less than the cost of one matchday programme.

Thanks for reading over the course of the campaign. For now I need to make space on this page for any follow up.  The ‘close season’ / World Cup columns continue in full, further on in this site.

You failed to mention the three pens we should have had, also the fact that the ref was in your managers back pocket all match, the only thing that we couldn’t understand was the hell we weren’t four up at half time.
The second half was the same apart from the last ten minutes.
Your manager should have been sent to the stands for the number of times he was out of his technical area, he spent more time in ours.third spot? You are by far the worst team we have played at home, and cheat god we only had to look at you and your players were rolling on the floor as if they had been shot.
Like jackett said you are a good league one side!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your further insightful comments John.
And I’d agree with you – we ARE a league one side. The clue here being that it’s the same division Wolves are playing in.
Have to say I’m surprised you failed to even score past us or get the win, given your previous rant about Wanderer’s prowess.
      Maybe next time, eh?
