Stuck between The Rock and a hard place. Will Grigg, I need you

24 Feb

QPR or Scunthorpe; Fulham or Fleetwood. Looking at the current tables, they are the likely opponents next season for whomever gets promoted from League One or who stays behind. All being well, Brentford are still up there in the box seat, despite Saturday’s loss (our first defeat since October of 2013) to Wolves.

Much as I am desperate for Brentford to go up – and I firmly believe we will –  Sunday’s draw for the EURO 2016 qualifying groups means that football in the Championship would present an additional headache.

To read the rest of this article, season 2013/14 is now available to download onto Kindle, in full. Containing previously unseen content, you can do so here for less than the cost of one matchday programme.

Thanks for reading over the course of the campaign. For now I need to make space on this page for any follow up.  The ‘close season’ / World Cup columns continue in full, further on in this site.

Wolves fan here. Shows how long you have been out of the top 2 divisions, there are no league games on the championship on international weekends, the same as the premier. Only below that do you need 3 players representing to get the game postponed.

    Wolves again,
Go to the European matches mate.

I could’nt listen to all that rubbish your manager came out with after Wolves out played, out ran and out classed the Bees. Talk about being magnanimous in defeat, not much fair play in his world.

Also, for a team who’s been on a run of 19 games unbeaten, what the hell happened when Wolves got the 2nd and the 3rd. did someone phone in a bomb threat!!! Your fans were like rats out of the trap, very fickle indeed.
Follow Gibraltar mate, at least they will have a plausible excuse when they lose.

    Very Bah Hunbug indeed.

Good luck for the rest of the season Brentford, we shall stuff Orient for you guys,so just don’t mess it up.

    😉
