A tale of two Russells as Bees win, again

23 Mar

Well – that was an exciting afternoon if not an odd evening. Brentford beat Coventry City yesterday to further strengthen their position in the promotion slots along side Wolves, after Leyton Orient were held at Walsall. However, the post match TV viewing, which we’ll get to shortly, proved somewhat odd.

Of course, there’s no better place to start than at Griffin Park where Brentford wrapped up a 3-1 win in a game that had everything bar the kitchen sink thrown into the first twenty minutes.

To read the rest of this article, season 2013/14 is now available to download onto Kindle, in full. Containing previously unseen content, you can do so here for less than the cost of one matchday programme.

Thanks for reading over the course of the campaign. For now I need to make space on this page for any follow up.  The ‘close season’ / World Cup columns continue in full, further on in this site.

I have to confess I did cheer when I heard that Coventry had scored. Unusually, Walsall have done us both a favour. Even if Orient win every game, Wolves now only need 20 points from 9 games to secure promotion, Brentford need 21 from 10. Surely neither of us can cock it up now.
