Are these grounds for a trial separation?

25 Nov

Each time I think the campaign couldn’t get any more bizarre for Brentford, something else comes along to shock us. The current position in the Championship seems beyond the pre-season expectations of most supporters (who would have been happy to take safety and still would).

To read the rest of this article, season 2014/15 is now available to download onto Kindle (and other electronic reading device) in full. Containing additional material and even some (poor) editing, you can get it here for less than the cost of a Griffin Park matchday programme or Balti Pie.

Thanks for reading and all your comments over the course of the season. For now, I need to make more space on the site for any follow up. However, ‘close season’ will continue in full, further along.

How is there 1.7 miles between Twickenham and the Stoop? They’re the other side of a roundabout.

I’d imagine the researches at Sky need to drop a new pin into the map…

Theres another factor in all this. Obviously its a huge ask to get us promoted in the first place. But people are assuming these grounds will welcome us with open arms. Chelsea wont even let their reserves play at the Bridge, so that’s a no. Twickers have always resisted anything but rugby on their hallowed turf. I read somewhere that The Stoop had previously turned down an approach from a football club, and ‘W’ would not entertain us because of the NFL and we would not be able to afford it. Which leaves Fulham & QPR. Im sure both sets of supporters would not welcome us playing at their ground.

Personally id pick Dean Court. Relatively new, spacious, and for me a 10 min walk

It is a veritable minefield and you’ve hit another nail on the head in regards to assuming we’d be welcomed. One would have hoped it is an option the club have always been aware of and, as such, discreet enquiries are already under way
This is , of course, assuming we even get promoted – which is the biggest variable of all
