Crisis club in tailspin? Are fans revolting?

8 Dec

Sheffield Wednesday 2 Brentford 1.

Sack the board. Spend £100million. Benham out. Frank out. It’s disaster. Nooooo. You don’t want to go up etc etc.

That’s one response to yesterday’s game I suppose. Some people may feel that way. Not me.

Personally speaking, I’m of the ‘everybody just calm down’ school of thought this morning. We lost a game. Away. To a team who are at the business end of the table for good reason. We might have won. Perhaps we should have drawn. But that’s not how football works. They scored twice. We scored once. We were missing two World Cup players. Arguably the most experienced members of our squad. We’ve still got one of the youngest and most exciting teams in the division. We’re ninth in the Championship. We’re three points off Nottingham Forest in fifth place. We move into Lionel Road in little over eight months time. We’ve back to back home games approaching – Cardiff City and then Fulham on Saturday.

Football life is good. Very good. Enjoy the moment. Ride the wave. I’d love to have won it yesterday but it’s not the end of the world. Anything but. Come back to me in May if you think there is any form of crisis. There isn’t, for the record.

Besides, from my perspective there’s another reason for yesterday’s defeat. Pick up Wednesday’s programme to find out why. Or just look at Twitter.

See you then.

Absolutely Nick. Some perspective is required. Two international captains in our defence were out for reasons (presumably injury?) that i dont know the details of and we lost at a ground we historically have struggled out. Its disappointing though. A missed tackle some way into SW half and then a quite rediculous hand ball… he was lucky to stay on the pitch. Then a slightly strange decision (IMHO) to swap Mokoto for Jensen, who’s not known for his defensive qualities and of course sloppy defending with the second. Even then we had a few chances ro level, and probably should have. But not a disaster!.
There’s two big games coming up against teams around and above us and i expect us to be highly motivated for them. If we get 4 points from 6 then I’ll be content, and hopefully that will be enough for the board to see we have a realistic chance for the playoffs and therefore won’t cash in on our prised assets. These are a big couple of season defining weeks coming up. CoYBs

Once again we are not good enough nor consistent once again, wether or not thats the players, the manager’s tactics, just can’t put my finger on it, we just don’t can’t be strong and finish games off and wither away time after time.

I can only assume the supporter (not sure if fan is the right word) is young and/or relatively new. Maybe a Chelsea exile or perhaps it’s the impact of the General Election campaign?
