Who will wake up happy on Wednesday?

One, non Brentford, subject close to my heart this season has been the ongoing effort to thwart Hull City owner Doctor Assem Allam in his attempt to rebrand the club as Hull Tigers. There were more developments on that yesterday which we’ll look at shortly but, of course, there’s only one place to start today – Griffin Park, with Crawley Town due to visit.

There can’t be too many people unaware of the significance of a win tonight.

A few history lessons but even I’ll ignore Kamara’s advice on this one.

If ever there was a certainty in football, it is that Wolves will pick up three points today when they entertain relegation bound Notts County. You could, quite safely, bet your mortgage on it. Brentford, meanwhile, face the tricky prospect of a trip to storm-lashed Crewe and, whilst current reports say ‘Game on’, the elements could well be somewhat of a proverbial ‘leveller’.

For me, there is no such thing as a ‘must win’ game with this much of the season remaining. However, with Wolves as good as adding another notch to the ‘W’ column, anything but a victory for the Bees will see us overtaken at the top of the table.

As Brentford and Wolves P-P, who were the winners and losers?

With Brentford’s game against Crawley and Wolves trip to Stevenage both ruined by the weather, the stage was set for Leyton Orient to go back to the top of League One yesterday.

Thankfully (really) Peterborough hadn’t read this particular script and their two goals in as many minutes at the death saw the O’s snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. With the top three sides now on level games, it means that Brentford remain in first place. Things are still too tight to call but I’d rather be two points ahead than two behind.

If The Bees emerged better for a weekend where they haven’t even had to get their boots dirty, who has woken up on Sunday wishing it had never happened?

Can The Bees make it (lager) top against MK Dons?

Brentford had a brief taste on Boxing Day but with Wolves hosting Leyton Orient at Molineux today, something has to give at the top of League One.

Until Wolves wrapped it up in the 90^th minute against bottom side Crewe and Late-on Orient also won at the death, Brentford had led the table for the first time this season. This is some progress from the twelve-point gap of a few weeks ago and, should the Bees win at home today, at the very least we will end the year in second place.

MK Dons are no mugs, of course. Their mid-table position disguises the fact that they have taken the full nine points on offer from the last three games. This also included doing us the favour of winning 2-0 at Wolves. Chuck into the mix the return of Karl Robinson, after last year’s bizarre incident
