Cometh the (half) hour….

18 Apr

Brentford host Bolton Wanderers today knowing that, realistically, three points are needed to give us a fighting chance of making the play offs. With Ipswich Town travelling to Wolves for a lunchtime kick off, by the time our game gets under way we’ll know just how significant victory could be. Should Wolves get a home win then matching that should take us back into the play off zone.

To read the rest of this article, season 2014/15 is now available to download onto Kindle (and other electronic reading device) in full. Containing additional material and even some (poor) editing, you can get it here for less than the cost of a Griffin Park matchday programme or Balti Pie.

Thanks for reading and all your comments over the course of the season. For now, I need to make more space on the site for any follow up. However, ‘close season’ will continue in full, further on.

So here we are again – both Wolves and the Bees fighting for the same prize at the business end of the season.

It could be all over today with the wrong result for us, and one could argue you are in a similar position. Your slightly better goal difference would give you a slender chance still if you were to lose and Ipswich win.

A draw at Molineux would suit you best and would, in my view, knock us out of the race in all practical terms. Still it’s credit to both our teams that we find ourselves in and around the play-offs after last season’s promotion.

So fingers’ crossed, good luck and well done on the season so far. For us, I am just hoping we reach the last game of the season still with something to play for.

    Come on me Babbies

You couldn’t make it up!! And moreso after last season.

I’m really hoping you win today and, if for no other reason, that it then gives us back control of our own destiny. Regardless though, I think it would be wonderful if one of us did it – back to back promotions from League One to the Premiership .

      Good luck today

Anglian, it’s do or die for Wolves today. A loss and it’s all over for another season, anything else and it’s nail biting time for yet another game.
For Nick and Brentford, congratulations whatever the outcome of the season for you.
Brentford is not a ‘name’ to associate with top level football but like the Wolves, coming up from League 1 to immediately challenge for promotion from the Championship takes some doing and you Bees can be very proud of that achievement.
All the best to both clubs today but I have a gut feeling that Wolves will fall short as Mick McCarthy has the ‘fluence’ on us.

A bitterly disappointing result for both of us. Finished the day yesterday feeling down and resigned to the fact that our season has ended. A single win for Ipswich now being enough – game over.

But then this morning what do you know? I am picturing Forest nicking a draw at Portman Road and Ipswich losing away at Blackburn. All is right with the world again 🙂

Oh what it is to be a football fan – always a triumph of blind hope and faith over the wisdom of experience eh?

Cheers Anglian. You have to stay optimistic. Whilst there is a chance then there’s hope. Forest are no pushovers whilst their last game at Blackburn is by no means a pushover.
